At AAOS 2016, Materialise will introduce a platform to support hospital-based 3D printing of surgical planning tools, such as medical models.
The system is designed to help the hospital:
- Create detailed pre-op plans from digital x-rays
- Prepare files for 3D printing
- Treat complex cases with 3D-printed anatomical models, patient-specific guides and implants
- Integrate virtual planning and 3D printing into the surgical workflow

Meanwhile, Dr. Richard Hurley imagines a world where a surgeon can design and 3D print implants in the office.
