IZI Medical has acquired Benvenue Medical’s vertebral augmentation systems portfolio, which includes the Kiva® VCF Treatment System, Kiva® Pilot and Blazer® Vertebral Augmentation System devices, is used for treatment of spinal fractures.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Benvenue Medical leadership said the divestation of these products allows the company to focus its full resources to accelerating growth opportunities for its PEEK-based Luna® 3D Multi-Expandable Interbody Fusion system, which earlier this year received positive study results.
The acquisition adds to IZI Medical Products’ vertebroplasty and bone biopsy lines. IZI purchased Cook Medical’s vertebroplasty line in 2Q17, including the Duro-Ject® Osteo-Site®, Osteo-Force® and Vertefix® brands as well as other needles, injectors and cements used to treat vertebral compression fractures.
