Inspired Spine reached the milestone of 500 Oblique Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion (OLLIF) procedures completed. This occurs ~6 months after completion of 400 procedures, as reported at the end of 3Q16.
Employing a 15mm incision, OLLIF is intended to produce 80% less blood loss than traditional fusion and requires no muscle detachment. No infections have occurred during the first 500 procedures.
Studies of OLLIF suggest that, due to substantially reduced surgical time and shorter hospital stay, the procedure has saved hospitals an average of $9,500 per case while improving patient outcomes.
