Implanet commenced marketing the MADISON total knee in the U.S. through its distribution partner, KICo. First procedures are scheduled for August.
Implanet and KICo signed a non-exclusive agreement in 2018 for distribution of the device, initially in the U.S. and Australia. KICO will gain exclusive rights to MADISON when it surpasses 1,000 implantations within a 12-month period, and will also gain an option for a manufacturing license.
Ludovic Lastennet, CEO of IMPLANET and Bede O’Connor, Managing Director of KICo, said, “We are delighted to have achieved this major milestone of our partnership. Together, we have been able to complete the various stages enabling us to announce today the availability of the first MADISON knee implants in the United States. Aware of the quality of the prosthesis and the commercial potential of the North American market, we are eager to realize the first surgical operations in August. The United States, the world’s largest market with more than 760,000 primary knee operations a year, is a market worth close to 4 billion dollars.”
