Gramercy Extremity Orthopedics (GEO) launched the cloud-based GEO CONNECT app, supported by RFID technology to manage orthopedic cases from a mobile device.
Using an iOS or Android device, sales representatives can intraoperatively scan foot and ankle implants and corresponding single-use, disposable instrumentation used in a case to create an electronic charge sheet that is automatically routed to all relevant parties before the surgery is complete.
In 2018, GEO introduced the GEO CART®, a mobile storage and point-of-sale system housing 2,000+ sterile-packed instruments and implants that are tracked and managed with RFID technology. The cart addresses issues such as O.R. product availability, sterile processing risks and device billing/tracking.
“Advancing technology in orthopedics is GEO’s main objective,” said GEO Chief Executive Officer Michael Simpson. “With GEO CONNECT, health systems and industry can now become even more efficient and synergistic. This allows GEO to keep moving the platform well beyond what is in the marketplace.”
