Exactech announced that Darin Johnson, current Exactech President, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer. Johnson, who has served as interim CEO since March 2023, succeeds Jeffrey Binder, Chairman of Exactech’s Board of Directors.
Johnson joined Exactech in 2002 and has since held several executive-level leadership roles therein. As President, Johnson oversaw all of Exactech’s business units, as well as its Human Resources and Information Technologies functions. Previously, he led the company’s Extremities business. Over his time at the company, Johnson has built and led cross-functional, global teams of orthopedic surgeons, product managers, engineers and sales professionals.
“Darin has done an excellent job guiding Exactech over the past six months,” Binder said. “His years of experience, success and leadership will serve the company well as we continue to work toward fulfilling our vision of becoming the industry’s best global orthopaedic surgeon partner. I am confident Darin will inspire the company to achieve great things for surgeons and patients under his leadership.”

Exactech has recently launched several transformative products and technologies for knee, hip, shoulder, and foot and ankle, including the TriVerse primary knee, Newton balanced knee technology, Spartan Hip Stem and Logical Cup, the Equinoxe Laser Cage Glenoid and Humeral Augmented Tray, Vantage Ankle PSI – and Active Intelligence technologies such as ExactechGPS navigation, Predict+ patient-specific outcome predictor and the Chime clinical exchange app. The company just received 510(k) clearance for the Activit-E advanced polyethylene and has also invested in its AI expertise with expanded machine-learning based software and a team of data scientists to develop new technologies.
