DJO has commenced launch of the OaraScore™ Outpatient Arthroplasty Risk Assessment tool.
Using multi-disciplinary algorithms and data, this software provides clinicians with information needed to assess an appropriate post-operative length of stay after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
OaraScore’s values are derived by evaluating nine critical co-morbidity factors and overall medical conditions, all in real time. In addition to utilizing OaraScore to determine if patients are low or high risk for outpatient surgery, the software also tracks readmission rates and compares encrypted data to all other physicians utilizing the tool.
DJO leadership developed this tool as a direct response to the removal of TKA procedures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services inpatient-only list. “Hospitals need effective tools to determine the appropriate patient length of stay and to minimize re-admission rates, two major drivers of cost in total joint replacement episodes of care,” DJO leadership stated in a press release.
OaraScore is part of DJO’s MotionMD® web-based SaaS healthcare solutions platform, launched in 2016.
