DePuy Synthes gained rights to exclusively co-market Medical Enterprises’ ME1000™ Surgical Impactor for use in Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), starting in 3Q17. ME1000 replaces the handheld mallet and is designed to automate bone preparation, implant assembly and positioning.
ME1000 is compatible with DePuy Synthes hips only, and adaptors enable anterior and posterior THA approaches. The impactor addresses issues such as surgeon fatigue and work-related injuries that may arise from handheld mallet use, like upper limb tendinitis. Addressing these issues for surgeons may support more consistent clinical outcomes and favorably impact patient satisfaction.
