DePuy Synthes acquired CrossRoads Extremity Systems, designer and manufacturer of procedure-specific, sterile-packed implants and instruments for elective foot and ankle surgery. We estimate the foot and ankle market generates over $4 billion in annual revenue, with a growth rate in the high single digits.
MB Venture Partners first invested in CrossRoads in 2014. HealthpointCapital Management acquired a majority stake in CrossRoads in 2019. Under HealthpointCapital’s ownership, CrossRoads broadened its product portfolio with the asset acquisitions of First Ray, Kator and Mortise Medical.
CrossRoads brings differentiated products to the DePuy Synthes portfolio, including miniBunion® 3D, dynaBunion® 4D and DynaForce® Staple Compression Plates.
The minimally invasive miniBunion system is indicated for metatarsal bone osteotomy that reduces the incision size as compared to traditional techniques and aims for less pain and a faster recovery. dynaBunion lapidus is an option for lapidus bunionectomy, providing instrumentation and implants to correct bunions in four dimensions through smaller incisions. DynaForce staple compression plates combine stability with dynamic continuous compression at the fusion site.
Further, CrossRoads brings the EcoSMART® Instrument Service which provides sterilized, reusable instruments for surgical cases, along with post-surgery instrument recovery and processing, to help reduce waste and inefficiencies.
