Conventus Orthopaedics closed a US $12MM venture loan from Horizon Technology Finance. Funds will support general working capital as Conventus continues to develop its proprietary Nitinol technology, which is designed to offer intramedullary support in the treatment of periarticular fractures.
Specifically, the financing will help to further commercialization of Conventus’ next-generation proximal humerus system as the company develops additional indications for its cage platform.
The Conventus Cage provides a rigid internal scaffold and expands within bone to inhibit collapse of a fracture. It is FDA-cleared for use in shoulder, elbow and wrist fractures. In May 2017, the company raised $20MM to support its endeavors.
