Carbon22 introduced the Apollo Ankle Fracture (AFX) Plates. The system comprises additively-manufactured titanium shell polyetheretherketone-filled plates with single-use instruments and a complement of reduction and joint preparation instruments.
Apollo AFX Plating offers an evidence-based design of see-through, “ortholucent” bone plates and screws. The system includes a portfolio of one-third tubular, distal lateral fibula, posterior tibial, medial malleolar, hook and syndesmosis plates. PEEKLOC variable-angle locking screw technology is designed to aid plate fit and screw placement.
The System’s TI-PEEK plates present an alternative to conventional plates with features such as:
- Ortholucency: the plates’ radio-translucent properties have been shown to greatly improve visualization of bony structures when using medical imaging. This enables easier assessments of implant placement and healing process progress, potentially promoting shorter time to weight-bearing.
- Anatomic profile – with additive manufacturing, the plates mimic anatomy, which helps support superior contouring to accommodate complex anatomy and reduction of contouring intraoperatively.
- Stress shielding protection – allows for more weight bearing by the bones, which can lead to reduced short and long-term bone loss, faster healing, non-union prevention and less refractures upon plate removal.
The Apollo AFX Plating System is case-ready, sterile and available on-demand. Carbon22 has also introduced intuitive and streamlined sterile single-use instruments and a quick caddy screw system to save money and shorten time in the operating room.
