Within its first quarter of market availability, Bone Solutions reached the milestone of 50 successful implants of OsteoCrete® magnesium-based bone void filler.
The procedures were performed within the product’s 90-day launch, throughout 4Q17. The product debuted in the U.S. in late 3Q17, and represents the first bone void filler in the U.S. to incorporate magnesium to support bone development. It is resorbable, injectable, moldable and biocompatible, and cleared for procedures such as complex sport-related injuries and musculoskeletal extremities trauma.
Now, Bone Solutions will focus on attaining approvals at various U.S. hospital systems.
Bone Solutions’ CEO, Mr. Drew Diaz, spoke with us for an ORTHOKNOW® interview, sharing perspective gained from OsteoCrete’s development and launch. A future project is planned to bridge non-resorbable and resorbable materials. “We are working with a few concepts that combine the two,” said Diaz, “so that we can bridge the gap before we come up with a fully-resorbable technology that is load-bearing.”
