Aurora Spine Gains Access to SI Fusion Patent

By Julie A. Vetalice

Aurora Spine acquired an exclusive license to U.S. Patent No. 9,451,986, “Percutaneous sacroiliac joint implant and method for surgically inserting and securing the implant into the sacroiliac joint,” through an agreement with its inventor company, SILIF.

Aurora Spine will develop the EASiFX™ implant, featuring retaining and bone locking mechanisms to use in sacroiliac joint fixation. The posterior approach is intended to minimize distraction of the sacroiliac joint, and the procedure will offer less tissue disruption with decreased O.R. time and radiation exposure.
