Aevumed received FDA 510(k) clearance to market PHANTOM® 3.5mm and 4.5mm PEEK Suture Anchors that integrate the company’s MicroThread® Technology, supporting fixation strength and control in arthroscopic repairs.
Engineered from 100% PEEK polymer, PHANTOM anchors provide surgeons with reliable fixation, enhanced pullout strength, and a smaller footprint combining biomechanical strength with minimally invasive performance. The MicroThread Technology along the anchor’s surface increases bone engagement, maximizing mechanical interlock and stability, especially in challenging bone conditions.
Key Features & Benefits
- MicroThread Technology: Unlike traditional All-Suture anchors, enhances pullout strength and bone integration by improving surface engagement.
- Small Footprint Design: At just 3.5mm and 4.5mm, PHANTOM anchors minimize bone removal while maintaining exceptional strength.
- Self-Punching Capability: Eliminates the need for pilot holes in softer bone, simplifying the procedure and saving surgical time.
- 100% PEEK Construction: Radiolucent and biocompatible, allowing clear postoperative imaging without metal artifacts.
- Versatile Indications: Designed for use in shoulder, foot and ankle, knee, hand/wrist, elbow, and hip procedures.
The PHANTOM series joins Aevumed’s expanding portfolio of advanced fixation solutions designed to improve patient outcomes while supporting surgeon efficiency in the operating room. The anchors are already being adopted by leading orthopedic centers and surgeons across the United States.
“This technology represents a significant step forward in fixation reliability and surgical efficiency,” said Dr. Jack Kazanjian, orthopedic surgeon and early evaluator of the PHANTOM 3.5 and 4.5 suture anchors. “Its short length makes it ideal for use across a wide range of anatomies from the shoulder and elbow to the knee and ankle while maintaining strong fixation in even challenging bone. The ease of insertion, with options for self-punch, self-tap, or traditional punch, tap, and drill techniques, gives surgeons tremendous flexibility based on bone quality and preference. Most importantly, the incredible pullout strength delivered by the MicroThread Technology gives me confidence in every repair. It’s a truly versatile anchor designed to meet the real demands of soft tissue fixation.”
“The PHANTOM anchors were developed through direct collaboration with surgeons to address one of the most persistent challenges in tendon repair — achieving secure fixation without compromising bone integrity,” said Saif Khalil, PhD, CEO of Aevumed. “Our goal is to make soft tissue repair stronger, more reproducible, and simpler to perform.”
The company is engaged in an equity offering campaign with a target raise of $1.23 million.
