Advanced Biomedical Technologies (ABT) was granted a patent, titled “Bone Fracture Plate Made of High [Grade] Polymer Materials,” in The People’s Republic of China.
The patent (ZL 2014 1 0647464.1) supports the development of fiber-reinforced polyamide products that may be used to treat trauma and cartilage injuries, as well as in dental applications.
ABT’s products are intended to offer an alternative to metal implants and other re-absorbable fixation devices, and are designed with the ability to control the speed by which the devices degrade. Absorbable devices by nature also obviate the need for a second surgery, which can reduce post-op complications.
