Advanced Biomedical Technologies (ABT) received approval from the China Food and Drug Administration for polymer orthopaedic internal fixation screws. The company intends to bring additional polyamide-based fixation products to the region, such as rib pins, binding wires, micromodule screws/plates and CMF plates.
ABT’s products are an alternative to metal implants and other re-absorbable fixation devices, and are designed with the ability to control the speed by which the devices degrade. Absorbable devices by nature also obviate the need for a second surgery, which can reduce post-op complications.
