ABANZA Tecnomed received FDA 510(k) clearance to market the WasherCap™ soft tissue fixation system for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
WasherCap is reported to be the first soft tissue graft fixation device that is designed to allow surgeons to perform a fixation that is independent of the bone quality of the patient and respecting the biomechanics of the knee.
Biomechanical tests have demonstrated that ACL reconstructions using WasherCap provide a higher fixation strength on the tibial side compared to standard tibial fixation devices, such as interference screws.
The WasherCap can be used in primary surgeries, ACL reconstruction revisions and for female patients where bone quality may be compromised. Ongoing product launches such as the WasherCap XS will offer surgeons a solution for biceps tenodesis, meniscal root repairs and challenging foot and ankle pathologies.
