DePuy Synthes reported 1Q26 orthopedic sales of $2.38 billion, up 6.3% compared to the first quarter of 2025. International sales benefitted from an 8.2% growth contribution from currency translation. On an operational basis, the company grew 3.2%.
DePuy Synthes’ growth was driven by new product introductions, offset by competitive pressure and inventory dynamics in its Sports, Spine, and Other segments.
It experienced minor procedure softness during the quarter due to disruptive weather in the U.S., but otherwise called the quarter “seasonally softer but operationally solid.”
J&J MedTech reiterated its spin-off timeline and commitment to evaluating all methods of separation.
“The Orthopedics business, under the leadership of Namal Nawana, delivered a strong first quarter with encouraging momentum across key platforms. We are continuing to make targeted investments in the business and working towards a mid-2027 separation. We look forward to sharing further updates later this year. And as stated last October, we are evaluating all separation vehicles that create shareholder value and set up the DePuy Synthes business for long-term success,” said J&J MedTech CFO Joe Wolk.
