Loci Orthopaedics was awarded a grant of over €2.5MM (~USD $2.8MM) to support commercialization of the InDx implant for the treatment of arthritis of the thumb base joint, which is slated to launch throughout Europe and the U.S. within three years.
Loci Orthopaedics was spun out from the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway in 2017. In the following year, they closed an investment round of €2.75MM. This most recent funding, from the European Commission’s Fast Track to Innovation program, brings the total raised by Loci to nearly €6MM to back InDx.
The company was recently granted a U.S. patent, “Implant for a Bone Joint;” further U.S. patents and ex-U.S. patent applications are pending.
Finally, Loci has entered into an agreement with NUI Galway for worldwide exclusive license to OsteoAnchor additively-manufactured surface finish technology for use in orthopedic implants to support immediate and long-term fixation.
