NuVasive (NUVA) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire SafePassage, provider of intra-op neurophysiological monitoring services (IONM) to >1,000 customers and 3,000 surgeons. The company will join NUVA’s Clinical Services division (NCS). The transaction is slated to close in January 2018; terms were not disclosed.
The agreement reportedly positions NCS as the largest provider of outsourced IONM services in the U.S. NUVA formed its division through the 2016 combination of Biotronic NeuroNetwork with its subsidiary, Impulse Monitoring. Following this latest acquisition, NCS will support >100,000 U.S. IONM cases annually. Significantly, SafePassage brings new spinal case coverage in New York and along the East Coast.
Analysts at BTIG cite SafePassage annual revenue estimates in a range from $15MM to $20MM.
