Amend Surgical entered into an exclusive agreement with The University of Florida Research Foundation (UFRF) to license patents for the development of Biomimetic Bone artificial bone substitute.
UF researchers have developed a process to mineralize collagen substrates to generate an artificial bone substitute that closely mimics the composition and structure of natural bone; this is reported to be the first achievement of high mineral loading when attempting to mineralize collagen.
This process will allow Amend to manufacture a highly-mineralized load-bearing bioresorbable collagen hydroxyapatite material. Biomimetic Bone will complement Amend’s NanoFUSE® products.
