Wenzel Spine acquired PrimaLOK™ SP Interspinous Fusion and PrimaLOK™ FF Facet Fixation systems from OsteoMed.
The acquired platforms represent a polyaxial interspinous process device and percutaneous facet screw system designed for MIS applications in the lumbar spine, and provide supplemental fixation when used with Wenzel Spine’s standalone, expandable VariLift-LX interbody fusion device.
The company has completed a limited U.S. release of PrimaLOK SP and FF; broad U.S. launch is slated for 2Q17.
VariLift received initial FDA 510(k) clearance in 2010, as did the PrimaLOK Facet Fixation system. Wenzel Spine launched the latest iteration, VariLift-LX, in 2Q16. The company now offers eleven sizes of VariLift devices.
OsteoMed appears to be retaining its PrimaLIF™ LLIF Lateral Interbody Fusion System, launched in 3Q15. In 1Q17, OsteoMed acquired OT Medical’s InstaFix™ shape memory staple system, supporting efforts to grow its small bone orthopaedic implant offerings.
