Spine Wave launched Paramount® Anterior Cervical Cage, a titanium implant with integrated fixation blades used for interbody fusion.
Paramount features a roughened endplate surface and integrated fixation blades that deploy toward and behind the anterior vertebral cortex and away from the spinal cord using a unique threaded mechanism. Used in conjunction with the novel scoring trial, this mechanism positions the fixation blades in a controlled manner without force or impaction, the company says.
The device’s design does not require the exposure necessary to implant non-integrated blades or screws at challenging angles and trajectories, making it less invasive, according to Spine Wave. The disc space can be filled endplate to endplate with bone graft, because of the device’s open-face design and modular graft cap.
Paramount is Spine Wave’s second internally-developed system addressing the cervical spine—along with Proficient® Posterior Cervical system—and its seventh new product launch since 2016.
