Smith & Nephew POLAR3 Total Hip: Results from National Joint Registry

According to data from the National Joint Registry for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, Smith & Nephew’s POLAR3™ total hip system demonstrated excellent survivorship and significantly higher patient satisfaction vs. other cementless stems in the registry.

POLAR3 combines the POLARSTEM™, R3™ Acetabular System and proprietary VERILAST™ bearing surface technology.

Per results in the registry, survivorship of the construct was 99.03% at seven years. Comparing the individual implants to the class average in their respective categories, results indicate a 44% reduction in the risk of femoral revision when using POLARSTEM and 55% reduction in the risk of acetabular revision when using R3.

Further, POLAR3 also demonstrated a reported significantly higher level of patient satisfaction and improvements in patient reported outcome measures vs. all other cementless stems in the registry. POLAR3 Total Hip Solution now has over 10 years of clinical heritage.
