Lima Corporate marked the 15th anniversary of its SMR modular shoulder system with launch of SMR bone graft instruments and Lima Personalized Surgical Instruments with pre-op planning software.
The modular system launched in 2002 and, by the end of 2014, was implanted in >60,000 patients in >28 countries throughout Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. Since then, its use has increased to >90,000 implants to date.
SMR is reported to be the first shoulder platform with 15 years of clinical follow-up, and its modularity supports intra-op versatility and ease of conversion from anatomic to reverse, without removing the humeral stem and the Metal Back glenoid. SMR Bone Graft Instruments received FDA clearance in 1Q17 for use with the SMR TT (Trabecular Titanium) Metal Back glenoid component.
Lima’s Trabecular Titanium material itself passed a 10-year milestone in 1Q17, as well.
