Corin and Ossis to Collaborate on 3D-Printed Custom Implants

Share:

Corin and Ossis entered a joint venture agreement to collaborate on 3D printing technology, for use in the development of patient-specific primary and revision hip and knee implants.

Ossis' technologies manufactured titanium implants that have been used in >200 implantations worldwide since 2007. Corin's 3D printing process was used to manufacture Trinity Plus™, a revision hip acetabular solution for future launch. The agreement combines Corin's technologies, such as 3D printing and the Optimized Positioning System, that will complement Ossis' experience in custom-made implants.

Ossis Co-Founder and Technical Director, P. James Burn, MB, CH.B, FRACS, spoke at OMTEC® 2016 on the Surgeon Perspective on Custom Implants. His presentation slides are available for review. Dr. Burn also participated in a panel with OEMs and suppliers in the additive manufacturing field, to discuss the quality of the technology and the advancements that will make additive a widely-used manufacturing process in orthopaedics.
