KFx Medical sold its AppianFx soft tissue fixation system to ConMed. Transaction terms were undisclosed.

KFx received FDA 510(k) clearance for the AppianFx PEEK Femoral Implant with Inserter in 2Q10 in 8mm and 9mm sizes, with application in tenodesis procedures in the knee. In 2Q12, the company received clearance for a 5mm-sized implant, supporting expansion into foot/ankle repair and reconstruction.

Separately, KFx Medical announced that a petition for writ of certiorari filed by Arthrex was denied by the U.S. Supreme Court, which refused Arthrex’s request for review of a patent infringement judgment in favor of KFx Medical. Arthrex has paid over US $35MM for infringement of KFx’s Knotless Double Row Fixation method, described in KFx’s U.S. Patent No. 7,585,311.
