Zimmer Biomet Enhances the OSS Orthopedic Salvage System -

Zimmer Biomet commenced global launch of enhancements to its OSS™ Orthopedic Salvage joint reconstruction prostheses, designed to treat bone loss due to trama, tumor, multiple revision arthroplasties, etc.

Updates include modern designs for the distal femur and diaphysis, small diameter splined stems and new components created with Biomet's OsseoTi® porous metal technology that is designed to mimic the structure of cancellous bone and promote biologic fixation through tissue ingrowth.

The instrumentation platform now includes Universal Quick Connection to support ease of use and expandable implant provisionals to improve intra-operative speed and flexibility during complex limb salvage.

Since its 2000 launch, OSS has been used in >15,000 patients worldwide.

Other recent salvage systems featured in the news include Stryker's acquisition of Stanmore Implants and Wright Medical's launch of the SALVATION system.
