Studies suggest that universal neuromuscular training for high school and college-age athletes may provide an effective, inexpensive way to avoid ACL sprains and tears. On average, universal training reduced the incidence of ACL injury by 63%, while a screening program reduced the incidence rate by 40%. Researchers estimated potential savings of an average $275/player per season in injury-related costs. (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons/AAOS, 5/8/14)
