Studies suggest that current evidence supports platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a treatment for conditions including lateral epicondylitis and arthritis in the ankle, and that injecting PRP during ACL reconstruction contributes to healing. Authors recommended further study for use of PRP to treat knee OA, Achilles tendon repair, rotator cuff injuries and other chronic tendinopathies. Further, research concluded that PRP is not beneficial in bone healing applications and should not be used in spinal fusion or other bone grafting procedures.
