Research / Technology

Researchers have developed an inexpensive, implantable sensor to wirelessly transmit real time data from the site of an orthopaedic surgery in support of more accurate, more cost-effective and less invasive post-op monitoring. The sensor requires no battery or external power and can send information about load, strain, pressure and temperature of the healing surgical site. (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 2/21/12)
