Globus Medical Acquires Nemaris, Surgimap Software -

Globus Medical (GMED) acquired Nemaris, developer of Surgimap® software used to preoperatively plan spine surgery. Terms were not disclosed. Surgimap, which operates in a cloud-based infrastructure, provides surgeons the ability to pre-plan and execute intraoperatively for more accurate and less invasive pedicle screw and expandable cage placement.

The software is widely used by GMED’s competitors, including DePuy Synthes, K2M, Medtronic, NuVasive, Orthofix, Stryker and Zimmer Biomet. GMED will incorporate Surgimap software directly into its ExcelsiusGPS robotic guidance and navigation system in order to streamline workflow and enable more robust data analytics. Surgimap is also expected to accelerate the launch of new GMED computer-assisted surgery products, according to leadership. (Globus Medical, 9/14/18)
