A review of data published by The National Joint Registry for England, Wales and Northern Ireland found that the registry’s report is accurate in providing information about hip and knee arthroplasty devices used in the U.K.'s National Health Services (NHS), though researchers expressed concern about the use of a small number of devices still "unproven," without long-term survivorship data. The data review revealed that, in 2010, 76,759 primary and revision total hip arthroplasties were performed in the NHS, employing 262 implants. Of these, 7,389 procedures were performed with 116 implants that had no Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel rating. (The Journal of Arthroplasty, 6/2013; Healio, 6/21/13)
