KENSEY NASH (KNSY) acquired NERITES for US $20MM in cash. Nerites’ adhesive-based biomaterials and anti-fouling technologies, with application in sealants, coatings, etc., will allow KNSY to further penetrate markets for soft tissue repair, orthopaedics, sports medicine, spine and neurosurgery.
KNSY entered into a manufacturing agreement and made a minority investment in ORTEQ SPORTS MEDICINE. Orteq’s Actifit® synthetic meniscal scaffold offers an arthroscopic option to treat partial meniscal tears. Orteq expects to receive FDA clearance for a U.S. clinical trial of Actifit in 2011.
