Pure-play spine companies are driving the spine market’s growth - even if only in low-single-digits. In doing this, they are demonstrating that the launch of differentiated and innovative products and the presentation of clinical data, all focused on one market segment, is a successful strategy to capture market share from segment-diverse competitors. This narrative isn’t new. It has played out in recent years and is expected to continue through 2016.

To better understand the situation – and to learn what is driving the double-digit growth behind companies like Globus Medical, K2M, LDR and others – ORTHOWORLD sat down with company executives to learn about their strategies. The nine companies profiled in this report were selected because they posted at least 15 percent growth in 2014 or 2015 and launched a novel product(s) or took a different delivery approach.

It’s worth noting that the list of companies was challenging to assemble. Multiple pure-play companies could vie for a spot on such a list. Spinal Elements (fka Amendia), NuVasive and Xtant Medical, for example, have posted solid growth and demonstrated through acquisition activity that they are serious about differentiating from the competition.

Here's who made the cut:

Benvenue Medical ♦ Globus Medical ♦ K2M ♦ LDR ♦ MEDICREA ♦ Safe Orthopaedics ♦ SI-BONE ♦ Spineart ♦ Titan Spine
