DePuy Synthes Trauma Launches Variable Angle Locking Hand System

DePuy Synthes trauma commenced global launch of the Variable Angle Locking Hand System, comprising anatomically-contoured and low-profile plates to treat hand fractures and to correct deformities.

The system is reportedly the first to feature 1.3 mm locking screws for hand plating. Plates are available in stainless steel and titanium material, and are intended for lateral and direct dorsal applications.

DePuy’s trauma segment is among its priority platforms for investments that are expected to yield future revenue growth. For instance, elective foot procedure devices from the 2Q16 BioMedical Enterprises acquisition are expected to launch by the end of 2018, while rollout and extensions of the TFN-ADVANCED Proximal Femoral Nail are expected by end of 2017, with next-gen extensions in 2018.
